What is quiet, about the Quiet Man?
If you haven't seen a John Wayne movie in a while, or only remember him from Western's, this is a nice diversion. Filmed in Ireland, with John Wayne taking on a role of a retired boxer, who has come to claim his original family homestead. He falls in love with a pretty redhead, whose brother stands in the way of their courtship and subsequent marriage. This is an "old fashioned values" movie, with John Wayne literally, dragging his wife around by the arm, and ocassionally kicking her in the butt, but.., if you can look past these absurdities .it's still fun at times. And climaxes with a fisticuff showdown, between the Duke and his brother-in-law. I still can't figure out what is "Quiet" about the "Quiet man". But it does have a time capsule look and feel to it. The blu ray version of this, is really great for the symphonic scene music throughout.

Amazing movie with Excellent extras about movie making
The movie stands on it's own, and I won't rehash what others have already discussed, or might find elsewhere. This movie is just as much about alcoholism than it is about an airline pilot. On the Blu Ray extras, the writer of the original script discusses, how he came up with the idea for the for the movie, while sitting next to a pilot in an airport, and wondering to himself..."pilots probably have problems, just like everyone else". It's truly insightful. Additionally the extras that are included about director Robert Zemeckis clue you in to how they created such a compelling crash scene, and how they inverted the plane for the movie. Zemeckis was also the director for Cast Away, and was told he shouldn't attempt a second movie about a plane crash. I for one...am glad he did. EXCELLENT MOVIE.

High production quality and a funny little family movie
Very good family movie. I was again pleasantly surprised by this production, since I had never heard of this movie before. Also, this was the first time I had watched a Disney Blu ray in a long time, and I was blown away by the production quality of everything from the intro logos, to the menu screen and extras. The movie itself takes place in New York City, and includes some amazing flyover shots of Central park, and just fun street scenes. This is a title that the entire family can enjoy as a modern family comedy. Some interesting extras and short interviews with both John Travolta and Robin Williams that are touching.
