"E.T." equals "Eternally Terrrific!"
I bought the DVD of "E.T." because my VHS copy was beginning to get fuzzy. Understandable, since the video release of "E.T." was what caused me to go out and buy my first VCR many years ago. Anyway, this version of the movie came with two cuts on DVD, the original (1982) and the 2002 20th anniversary re-release version, which has a few additional scenes and some interesting commentary, especially from the cast members. The use of a live orchestra at the LA premier in 2002 was outstanding, and clips of that showing are worth watching, particularly if you are a John Williams fan, as I am.
Over the years I've watched "E.T." countless times, and I never fail to enjoy it, as well as always tearing up at the end. Corny, I know, but Stephen Spielberg's magnum opus (he says it's his favorite movie)was an instant classic, and will rank right up there with "The Wizard of Oz" as a "kids' movie" that is equally appreciated by every adult who has a bit of a child deep inside--and that's most of us, isn't it?

Another good read from Patterson
This time the issue is capital punishment. Using many of his previous characters and adding several new faces, Patterson weaves an interesting and compelling story of the intricate process that American jurisprudence has constructed in the appeal process for death row inmates. A little slow moving in places, sometimes frustrating (because of the legal system--not the author), but always entertaining, this book will keep you reading--and thinking. Patterson always pleases, and this book is no exception.

Another hit by Martini
I've enjoyed all the books I've read by Steve Martini, and this one was no exception. It was interesting, exciting, and hard to put down. (Cost me a couple of late nights!) I recommend it for all who like a well written tale.
