Business InformationHistory/background
The Mint online Ebay store was founded in 2009. The Mint deals primarily in online sales and acquisitions of rare vintage collectible toys, in many instances, generation 1 Transformers (our true passion). We have collected various toy lines for almost 20 years. Many of the toys we sell and deal in are a passion first, and a business second. in February 2010, the store was temporarily relocated to Monterey Bay, CA, where we expanded our personal inventory, as well as began to compile detailed analysis and pictures of select vintage toy lines for the purpose of building several online tutorials to distinguish authentic from counterfeit samples. We moved back to Seattle in late March of 2011, with our inventory ever growing. Our grand re opening happened in March, and we are proud to present an outstanding lot of literally hundreds of vintage high quality finds for the discriminating collector or enthusiastic hobbyist.
Payment policy
We can accept payments through Paypal only per Ebays seller requirements.
Shipping information
We ship EMS for International buyers. It is slightly more expensive that Priority, but gives a higher insurance thresh hold and has up to date tracking. For Domestic, we ship First Class Mail Insured with tracking (in personally purchased, out of pocket expense, small packages from Staples, Inc), Parcel Post, and Priority Mail for larger items. Insurance and tracking is required for most of our items sold, and is built into the final shipping cost.
Return policy
We accept returns within 72 hours of receipt of the item if the item is not as described. It is rare, but there are occasions where we will miss something even after detailed analysis and high res close up photos. If the item is returned to us altered, damaged, swapped for something else, or in any condition other than originally sold, NO refund will be issued and the buyer will be responsible for it. The buyer may be reported to Paypal and Ebay for fraud if the item is altered. We keep detailed, archived pictures of our inventory and have had to deal with fraudulent individuals before, so please keep your dealings with us honest. In return, we promise to continue to deliver outstanding rare finds to you!
Contact information
We can be contacted through the contact seller link on our item listings.
Why Pick The Mint over other sellers?
We believe our business is better. Here's how: We have almost 20 years experience exclusively with a NARROW range of toys we choose to deal in. We're also smaller, more efficient, take more loving time with each item, and photograph our items extensively. Have you noticed how a LOT of vintage collectible sellers in the last 2 years are now using white luminous backgrounds with no flash for their items? Well, we helped introduce that trend in the summer of 2009 to the Ebay Transformers world, and we continue it to this day. We also use Photobucket, and upload every picture to our auctions one at a time. Why? Because they are clearer, larger and easier to see than using Ebays standard or deluxe uploader. We admit, we're not perfect. We're human beings just like you, but our goal is to bring a touch of class to this hobby, and to truly embrace the real reason the REAL collectors love and continue to buy these toys: Nostalgia. No 'investor' will EVER understand that beautiful premise.
The tutorials
A while back, we at The Mint became obsessed with publishing a unified system for identifying KO's, variations, and counterfeits when it came to generation 1 Transformers. A supplement of sorts to the now famous Fred's Page. Seeing how the toys themselves have achieved a literal value ounce for ounce, in many cases higher than GOLD, that premise and dream was wholeheartedly embraced by the community. We have drafted a counterfeit vs real Reflector guide, and are hoping to find time to publish several other guides on the Dinobots, The Matsushiro Jetfire (i.e., Bandai armor and accessories vs. Matsu vs. crossover), The REAL Red Tracks, the insides of the REAL UNUSED American Defensor and Menasor giftsets, and a few notes on Optimus Prime and his many incarnations. With all the phony baloney sellers piecing together KO and real parts to make 'complete' vintage toys, it's about time someone published a comprehensive guide. We sincerely hope to have that well on the way by years end 2011.
